Specialist contractors
For contractors whose documents go into somebody else's approval gate
Asbestos, demolition, remediation, passive fire, M&E, temporary works, civils: your safe system of work is read by a principal contractor before you start, and a return costs programme.
The two weeks before a start date
The pre-construction pack arrives, the start date is fixed, and the method statement has to be written, reviewed and accepted in between. The quickest route is last job's file, and that is the route that gets documents returned: the wrong site address, the wrong emergency arrangements, controls for plant that is not on this job.
Each return is another loop of revise and resubmit, by email and PDF, while the programme waits.
What changes
What ProtechOS does about it
-
Drafted from this site's facts
ProtechOS reads the client's pre-construction pack into activities and site arrangements, and asks for the site facts each document needs before it drafts.
-
Gaps marked, never guessed
Where it was not told something, the document reads [TO CONFIRM by author] and the gap is listed for you — not a plausible sentence waiting to be found by the reviewer.
-
Citations checked before it leaves you
Every legislation reference is checked against a register of UK health and safety law, with findings shown before approval.
-
A named approver at a stated revision
Approval is separate from authorship, recorded against a named person at a specific revision, on an audit trail nobody can edit afterwards.
-
Permits where the work is
Permit to work, hot works, excavation and confined space are typed hold points at the step they gate, released on site by the named people.
-
Specialist documents only when they apply
An asbestos plan of work under HSG247 is suggested only when the scope contains licensed asbestos work — no asbestos plan on a school fit-out.
